Two weeks ago I had computer problems and it needed another RAM Board which was replaced.

Now I'm having the same problems where the computer doesn't start properly.

So tomorrow morning it's back to the Computer repair shop......

BUGGA !!!

PS..... just when there was a special on a CLS DC-10 Rolling Eyes

As this is the second time, Pete, maybe your PC has been instructed by your wife to protect your wallet. For that reason I never leave my PC alone, when my wife is in my study Laughing Laughing

Here's my take on it as I had the same "it won't boot into windows" problem
Firstly, the tech-head has to have smarts
When I had this problem in WINXP in 2006 (you don't forget these things) the braindead at Mothers Computers blanked my harddrive and re-installed WinXP
What an idiot! Now when I take my machine into ANY shop I put a note on it:
DO NOT BLANK HARDDRIVE
Back in the day the ROM was a hardwired chip -- no problem
Now, AFAIK, it's software and that's what the techy has to reprogram
As noted, my repair at Boomers on douglas St. in Victoria cost $40
I gave Techy another $20 just for NOT blanking my HD Laughing

Pete, very pleased to hear that you are up and running again Very Happy Here are my settings:

Mine is set to Trilinear as I use Nvidia Inspector for my graphics card settings.

These settings reflect my use of various Orbx Regions.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Al, I haven't changed any settings yet in the Nvidia Inspector .... not sure what I'd change anyway Confused

After I hooked everything up yesterday, there were a few "Oh Bugga" moments when I had a few pop up warnings advising the graphics card wasn't suitable for both Flt Sims and also I couldn't open Google Earth Confused Confused But for what ever reason it seems to be playing nice now.

All except the two USB ports on the front of the Box won't allow me to hook up my external Hard Drive to do backups Shocked Confused

Not a happy chappy at the moment Sad

The repair shop called this morning and said that they will have to do a reformat on my computer !!

Problem is that because the USB ports weren't working there's a heap of stuff on the internal HD that I didn't have a chance to backup.

Just hoping I don't loose too much.

Bugga, Bugga, Bugga Wink

Well after all week I've got the computer back. Very Happy

But , it's been reformatted and I've lost all the flight sim stuff on it, plus a lot of other programs I use.

Fortunately I had backed up to an external HD all FS9 stuff ( although that was not the current setup) I had also backed up my current FSX payware a/c and a few other things.

But because of the USB problems I wasn't able to back up and save my current FSX:SE setup ..... or the several Gb of FSX downloads .... bugga bugga bugga

Now to start the long and frustrating reinstall and find the freeware stuff ..... Rolling Eyes

Remember .... backup regularly Wink Wink
